Ryanair Launches Holiday Home Rental Site

Ryanair, Europe’s largest low fares airline, today (Thursday, 15th May 2008) announced the launch of Ryanairvillas.com, which will give property owners the chance to advertise holiday rentals on Europe’s largest travel site. In partnership with Web Reservations International, Ryanairvillas.com will afford property owners the chance to create and publish their own advertisements, including photos, maps and property descriptions, while providing the necessary online tools to manage enquiries and bookings.

Speaking today, Ryanair’s Sinead Finn said: “Ryanairvillas.com gives property owners an unrivalled advertising opportunity on Europe’s largest travel website. Property owners now have the chance to promote holiday rentals to Ryanair’s 60 million passengers, while Ryanairvillas’ simple design will enable owners to manage advertising content and booking enquiries at the click of a mouse.

“To celebrate the launch of Ryanairvillas.com, we are slashing 50% off advertising fees, so for one week only, property owners can reach Ryanair’s 60 million passengers for a special price of just €100 plus VAT”.

Last month, the low-cost airline Ryanair warned that its profits could halve this year because of high fuel costs and low consumer confidence. So it has decided give away a million free flights - in a marketing scheme that will cost them in excess of £34m (source The Guardian newspaper).

The Guardian article continues” Last month, the airline was forced to declare the taxes and charges in its advertised rates following pressure from the Office of Fair Trading. The consumer magazine Holiday Which? said Ryanair was the worst airline when it came to its hidden charges - book a free flight (actually, it charges a nominal 1p) from London to Oslo, say, and if you don’t watch it, you can be charged £5.77 for travel insurance, £3 for priority boarding, £21 to check two bags in at the airport and a credit card charge. Then there is the inflight food and drink, car hire, hotels, financial services … “.

O’Leary has said that it is his ambition to be able to offer all of Ryanair’s seats free one day, with all the money coming from the add-ons such as the holiday home rental site.
